New installer ISO (beta1) available
This afternoon I uploaded the new installer ISOs which I’m calling beta1. They work really well and build on the previous installer, fixing a number of issues and adding some minor feature enhancements, including:
- support for writing /etc/mdadm.conf
- better GRUB support (should work in almost every situation now except strange ones such as RAID or LVM, etc. but then it will tell you that it can’t do it and you have to do it manually)
- the LiveCD uses runit now, instead of SysVinit
- better handling of USB support
- better timezone handling
Unless problems are reported, this is essentially what the final 2.0-RELEASE install ISO will look like (with refreshed packages at the time 2.0-RELEASE is released).
